GirnarParvat is in Junagadh, Gujarat state is famous both as a pilgrimage and as an adventurous spot for trekking lovers. The main event for Hindus is the Mahashivaratri fair held every year on the 14th day of the Hindu calendar month of Magha. At least 1 million pilgrims visit the fair to participate in Pooja and Parikrama of GirnarParvat. GirnarParikrama(circumambulation) is very auspicious event from a religious angle.
The devotee starts doing circumambulation from Bhavnath to Zina Bawa Ni Madhi, which is approximately 12 km distance. From there, they reaches Malvela, which is 8 km away, and then to Bordevi, which is at a distance of 8 km. The last arc from Bordevi back to Bhavnath is approximately 8 km long. The circumambulation is organized as per the Hindu calendar in the month of Kartik, from the 11th to the 15th. Devotees seek blessings at each of the temples along the way during the circum ambulation.
To reach the journey by footsteps, it is advisible to start the journey at 4:00AM and with normal pace, one can reach at around 10:00AM. After climbing around 5200 steps, Ambika Mata Temple can be visited and continouing further to around 10,000 steps Lord Dattatreya’s real Foot Prints can be found.
